Ryde Band has been in existence for more than half of the 230 year life of Ryde itself. The band was created by Ryde Municipal Council members, and its first rehearsals were held in the council chambers. Since that time, many members of our community have enjoyed hearing and playing in the band. This book is a well-researched, comprehensive history which reflects the band's identity and fortunes which have been closely entwined with those of Ryde itself, as the area progressed from municipality to city.
